Not just seniors, everyone frustrated by doctor delays

Your appointment is at 10:00 a.m. You did everything right. You arrived 15 minutes early, checked in, completed the paperwork, and found a seat in the waiting room. At 10:20, you're still waiting. By 10:40, you're wondering if someone forgot you were there. Then, after you're finally called back, you spend another 15 minutes alone in the exam room before the physician walks in.

Sound familiar?

If you've found yourself wondering, "Has it always been this way?" the answer is no.

The gift of remaining a friend

A friend recently shared a conversation that has stayed with me. She and another member of her cycling group have been close friends for years. They ride together, enjoy meals, attend events, and genuinely care about one another. Their relationship has never been romantic, but it is deeply meaningful.

Recently, her friend received some difficult health news. As they talked about what the future might hold, he said something that surprised her: "I don't want you to become my caregiver. I want us to stay exactly as we are."

At first, his words stung. Was he pushing her away? Didn't he trust her? Didn't he know she would gladly help him?

A simple home repair becomes a costly lesson

A few weeks ago, a gentleman I know came by my office to share a story he thought might serve as a lesson for others. He wasn't looking for sympathy—he was hoping his experience might help someone avoid a similar situation.

He wasn't asking anyone to intervene. In fact, he told me he was a little embarrassed about what had happened.

His hope was simple: perhaps his experience might help someone else avoid the same situation.

He had recently seen an online advertisement for dryer vent cleaning. The price seemed reasonable—just $69. Like many of us would, he clicked, scheduled an appointment, and expected a straightforward service call.
